Here are some of my favourites moments from 2015 and what a year it was! I was incredibly lucky to be invited by so many wonderful couples to help them create some beautiful ceremonies. I am so excited for 2016 and can’t wait to hear the love stories of couples who are heading down the aisle this year.

Everyone has a different story and that’s what I love about doing what I do….meeting new people, hearing their story, helping them walk the path to saying ‘I do’, creating their dream ceremony, and having some fun along the way. If 2015 was anything to go by, this new year is going to be full of love, laughter and many more awesome moments.

These two childhood sweethearts are still completely smitten with each other over a decade after they first met in school. Kym and Nick were married on a wonderful winter’s day at The Pass in Byron and theirs was a magical light-filled afternoon.

They almost had the beach entirely to themselves as they wandered after the ceremony with photographers Byron Loves Fawn. I definitely recommend considering some of the great things about a winter wedding in Byron. There is still plenty of sunshine and if you’re planning a beach wedding you won’t have the number of onlookers of busier seasons….plus you’ll have a lot more options booking in your preferred vendors.

After their intimate ceremony, witnessed by a small group of their closest family & friends, these two lovebirds strolled down to Byron Beach Cafe for their reception dinner basking in newlywed bliss…

Kym’s blooms including that totally amazing flower crown and anklet were created by The French Petal.

I love a Byron garden party under a row of string lights!

Emma & Mark said ‘I do’ with stars in their eyes and love in their hearts before kicking off a great big party under a clear sky at Figtree.

These two love to travel and wrote their own vows whilst sitting on the back seat of a bus travelling the Phillipines. Some of their promises went a little something like this…

I promise to travel the world with you,

To live an adventurous life with you,

To be crazy with you,

To dream big with you,

And to laugh with you

Tucked away in the hills just behind Byron Bay is Grasciosa, one of my favorite hinterland properties. Family and friends crossed the country from Perth to be by Dave and Chantelle’s side as they said ‘I do’.

They promised each other forever in front of the giant fig where Dave had proposed on one of their many trips to Byron.

Dave and Chantelle, together with their nearest and dearest, basked in their love and in the autumn golden light before kicking on to enjoy one almighty party under the stars.

This clip by Yellow Bull Media captured the magic.

Sam and Arabella’s wedding story is an epic one. Having met the girl of his dreams in Bella, and convinced she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, Sam found himself facing one of life’s biggest moments – the marriage proposal.

Not one to do things the way most people usually do things, Sam wanted to sweep Bella off her feet with one awesome romantic gesture. So when he dropped to bended knee and popped the question, Bella got two surprises in one go…. Sam had already organized the entire wedding and it was happening in 4 days time.

Whilst legal timing requirements between a proposal and marriage meant that Sam & Bella’s ceremony was not an official marriage ceremony (you must provide 30 days notice from when you sign the Notice of Intended Marriage form) their commitment ceremony was one almighty celebration of their love for each other.

With a little help from his friends Sam secretly organized for 100 of their closest friends and family to travel to Yamba and the family’s Pacific Hotel for the ceremony and one hell of a party. Of all his surprises, the one I am most in awe of was that Sam had the one and only Kym Ellery design Bella’s dress. What.A.Guy.

The wild weather that lingered all morning held off and the ceremony took place on a purpose-built platform sitting in front of the Hotel with beautiful Yamba Beach as the backdrop. Both Bella and Sam looked drop-dead gorgeous and completely, utterly in love.

As Bella made her way up the stairs to meet her man, the smile on her face and the way she looked at Sam said it all. These two share a love that feels too good to be true – a love that you feel grateful for every day.

Here’s a glimpse into a day that makes me smile whenever I think of it.

Set on the edge of the Byron Bay with the lighthouse as a backdrop, Eliza and Jason were married at Figtree Restaurant last November. I had the pleasure of spending time with these beautiful souls in the lead up to their wedding and it was well and truly awesome seeing their super close families come together on the day to celebrate their love.

Byron Bay is a special place for these two. According to Jase, Eliza’s family’s annual pilgrimage to the Blues and Roots Festival is more important than Christmas!

Eliza has got to be one of the the most laid-back brides I have ever worked with. She also radiates positivity and it was her huge laugh - coupled with her captivating big brown eyes - that caught Jase’s attention when they first met.

For their big day, Eliza decided that one dress was not enough. Starting things off in a stunning Rachel Gilbert gown, she then changed into a Lover creation to get the party started and with some killer blue Tony Bianco shoes to complete the look she really knocked Jason’s socks off.

These two just love to have a good time…. Jase can’t wait to learn how to dance jazz with Eliza when they hit retirement age and really show the locals at the RSL how to shake a tail feather! I hope I’m there to see it.

Enjoy these photos taken by their good friend, photographer Tim Jones.

Last spring - before I made the big move north to Byron Bay -  I had the pleasure of being Paul & Janine’s celebrant. They chose Whale Beach - this has got to be one of my absolute favourite of Sydney’s northern beaches. Luck was on their side with a blue-bird, not-a-cloud-in-the-sky kind of day. Enjoy the photos of their special day courtesy of the very talented Jodie McBride from McBride Studio (any Sydney brides & grooms looking for a photographer - look no further!) http://mcbridestudio.com/

Upon meeting Beth I was immediately struck by how warm she was. She has an inner energy that simply just radiates. On her wedding day Beth married long time love, Luke at Pavilion 2 in Broken Head… having travelled to the Bay on many occasions Beth and Luke couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else.

It was showering on and off, so what was to be a beach ceremony was relocated to the garden. The styling was vintage thanks to Little Gray Station and under one heavenly floral arch Beth and Luke said ‘I do’.

As they sealed their marriage with a kiss a little ray of sunshine appeared through the clouds - it was truly one of those magical moments and I loved being part of this very special day for yet another very special couple.

Angus and Liz’s love is a story that started back in 2001. Liz clearly made a good first impression on Angus… he immediately felt that she was a great conversationalist, lots of fun, very cool and up for adventure.  He also remembers that she gave amazing hugs – so good in fact that he started referring to her as the ‘Hugnarian’  - on account of her hug-ability coupled with her Hungarian background.

It wasn’t until a few years ago that Angus and Liz’s friendship evolved into something more. And for her 30th birthday Angus gave Liz the ultimate gift - a trip to Indonesia to celebrate…. and a proposal to boot!

Continuing a family tradition starting with Liz’s great grandparents and then her parents, they chose May 10th as their wedding day and a beautiful little town called Wagstaffe on the Central Coast of NSW as their location.

Arriving by boat, Liz made her way down the jetty adjacent to the Wagstaffe Town Hall and took her groom’s breath away.

These two are warm, funny and laid-back and I loved that their wedding vows included a personal touch…Angus promising to be Liz’s #1 pest, her pillow and personal cake tester (Liz is a pastry chef and a very talented one at that!) and Liz promising to be Angus’s #1 trouble maker, map reader and personal alarm clock.

It was a beautiful, intimate ceremony filled with emotion and once again, I was honoured to be part of it. Photos by www.leejade.com

Liam and Angela’s love is a story that started when Angela spotted Liam out on the town dressed in his naval uniform and decided to serenade him with ‘In The Navy’. He was clearly smitten from the get-go and 5 years later they stood together under a tree at the beautiful Bells at Kilcare and declared their love for each other. This intimate wedding included a handful of the couple’s closest family and friends and of course, their beloved French bulldog Pierre. It was the perfect morning in the perfect place to say 'I do’.

Sally and Lawrence chose a beautiful, tucked away location on the edge of Pittwater on the Northern Beaches for their ceremony. The weather held off (just!) and the photographers at ‘The Simple Things Studio’ managed to capture some magical moments before the newlyweds continued to their reception at Moby Dicks, Whale Beach.

This super cute couple gave their big day a lot of thought and the details didn’t go unnoticed. They even managed to snap some great pics on photographer Lawry’s vintage polaroid camera.

As we approach the closing days of the current wedding season, this one is one I remember with a smile. Congratulations again guys! x

During a sunset wedding at The Boathouse in Palm Beach, Jodie and Dean’s friends and family collectively gave them to each other in marriage in a group giving away. They exchanged their vows, including one of my favourite song lyrics…

“I promise to love you always and smile inside to know your mine, completely”

and as they sealed their marriage with a kiss, the congregation leapt to their feet in celebration and the party started!

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Fergus, your wedding was one of the most beautiful, fun, heartfelt nights - not only for you, but for me and everyone lucky enough to share it with you. May you be blessed with a life full of love, happiness and good times!

Jodie and Dean were married on Friday 13th December at The Boathouse Palm Beach. Jodie is my cousin, but with 36 hours between us, we’re more like sisters – so to play the role of her bridesmaid and her celebrant made this day one of the most special moments in my life.

It couldn’t be any more apparent how truly in love these two are. Their story started when they were just 14 and although it was a somewhat short-lived teenage romance, it formed a friendship that lasted through the years, and brought them together 16 years after they first met.

Jodie decided to make a spontaneous visit to Bali in 2010, and caught up with Dean who is based in Indonesia as the owner of the Secret Sumatra surf camp. When it was time to head back to Sumatra and he was running late, he asked Jodie to come with him but told her she would only have 5 minutes to get ready if they wanted to make the flight. When she threw everything in her bag and was barefoot and ready in 3, Dean realized she just might be the one!

These two have had a whirlwind few years living between Indonesia and Australia and they welcomed their beautiful son River into the world in 2011.

When they chose to come home for their wedding and chose The Boathouse as the place where they would say ‘I do’, their friends and family couldn’t have been happier. Knowing these two, this wedding was going to be one almighty celebration!

This is the wedding of Amy and Shaun. They had a bridal party of 12 and and an abundance of friends and family their with them to celebrate their love on their wedding day.

Amy and Shaun chose Darook Park South in Cronulla for their ceremony, overlooking the bay that was their childhood playground.

The positivity and love for living these two share really is an inspiration -Shaun loves Amy’s energy, easy going nature and the fact that she can ‘talk underwater’ and Amy loves Shaun’s outlook and the fun he brings to her life… so the big LOVE sign they had brought in for the occasion fitted them perfectly - this day was all about big love, big smiles and a big circle of loved ones to share it all with.

Andrew and Cheryl became husband and wife during October’s wild weather. The bush fires burning in the Blue Mountains gave the whole of Sydney a hazy glow and the wild winds carried ash all the way to Whale Beach.

The beach was theirs - not a soul in sight - as Andrew and Cheryl said ‘I do’ in front of their family and friends and their gorgeous daughter Ruby, before retreating into Moby Dicks to eat and dance the night away.

I LOVED this wedding. Craig and Olya had spent the day before the wedding setting up  and putting the finishing touches on what can only be described as DIY amazing-ness! It was an intimate affair on a perfect spring day in the Hunter Vally with a sprinkling of friends and family and the couple’s dog, Cosmo, who barked with approval as Craig and Olya were pronounced husband and wife. The very talented Joshua Mikhaeil from The Wanderers captured the day perfectly.
